Born in Shanghai in 1948, he graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute in the United States and began teaching in the Printmaking Department of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Art) in 1984. As a contemporary artist, he currently lives and works in Shenzhen, Guangdong. His notable works include Underground Fire 1985-01 and the Untitled series.
