Rosa Serra, born in Catalonia in 1944, is a Spanish national treasure sculptor, known as the "contemporary Michelangelo".
She is devoted to the beauty of sport, and her work is characterized by dynamic beauty. As one of the most remarkable sculptors of our time, her works are spread all over the world, showing the surging passion and romantic tenderness of the Spanish people.
In 1976 she participated in the 3rd Bilbao Sculpture Biennale, in 1985 she was commissioned by the International Olympic Committee to make a series of sculptures for the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, and in 2008 she was awarded the Sant Jordi Cross by the Catalan government. She was invited by Samaranch, "Honorary Life President of the IOC", to create 38 sculptures of the Olympic Movement based on the Olympic Spirit, which are the only works of art in the world named after the Olympics and are in the permanent collection of the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.
